In an industry-wide vote, she ranked second in the world only to Tiger Woods, who endorses TAG Heuer. Aishwarya ranks well above names which are far better known internationally, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, and George Clooney.

Aishwarya may not be doing much work these days thanks to the time she's taking off in order to care for her daughter, but by the looks of this vote she'll never have to worry about losing work: when it comes to selling watches there's no woman in the world companies would rather have in their ads than her.

SRK, Abhi or John for Aishwarya's comeback?

It's been only 3-month since Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gave birth to her daughter, still known as "Beti B" and ever since there's been speculations about the return of once Bollywood queen to the silver screen.

There have been quotes from alleged "sources" and "reports" of various projects that the actress has taken up. But no confirmation yet from the lady herself.

Only a month after 'Beti B' was born there were reports that Ash is making her comeback with Shah Rukh Khan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani'.

The news made way to other media houses stating that Bhasnsali has somehow managed to finalise the deal with her for the lead role in his long pending dream project. The filmmaker reportedly had a meeting with Aishwarya at her residence in Mumbai and sealed the deal.

That's not where the story ends; apparently Shah Rukh Khan has been approached and the star seems to be giving the project a serious thought.

And then the news comes from south film industry that Ash plans to stage her comeback with superstar Rajinikanth.

It was reported that Aishwarya, post her delivery, will make a special appearance in the south superstar's next 'Kochadaiyaan'. Incidentally the film has Deepika Padukone as the lead actress. Two posters of the film are already out but there seems to be no mention of Ash anywhere or any indication of her cameo.

And the latest to the list of speculations is that 'Agent Vinod' director Sriram Raghavan will soon begin his much-delayed sci-fi film with John Abraham and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Sriram' film titled 'Happy Birthday' will take off, post the release of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s most ambitious project 'Agent Vinod'.

Sriram had originally planned the project with Ash a few years ago and had announced his plan to cast John Abraham opposite the actress.

However, the project did not take off then and Raghavan shifted his focus on directing 'Agent Vinod'.

Alright, so if this report is correct what do we make of all the other reports filed on Ash's comeback?

Interestingly, if DNA reports are to be believed, several filmmakers are offering her movies to pair with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, hoping to raise her interest to re-enter the industry.

But the question that still bother us is, is she really in a mood to make her comeback so soon?

We have noticed that Ash is in no shape to return and face the camera. Her baby flab was quite noticeable in Riteish-Genelia wedding party.

If Ash is making a comeback she needs to get back in shape really fast. Even she must have noticed how her popularity ratings have taken a nose dive and her name doesn't even feature in Times' Top 5 Most Desirable list.

Our guess is that the actress will take her time to make a comeback - at least a year. She has taken motherhood with all seriousness and like she does most things perfectly, also wants to be a perfect mother.

If you remember the actress has been on sabbatical over the past year because of her pregnancy. She also opted out of Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Heroine' due to pregnancy.

And post pregnancy it is quite natural that the lady will give her undivided attention to her daughter.

All the rumours and speculations of her comeback will keep readers busy but we shall wait to hear from the lady herself about her most awaited comeback.

Ash-John next on Agent Vinod director's list

Sriram Raghavan has made just three movies in the last eight years — Ek Hasina Thi (2004), Johnny Gaddaar (2007) and now Agent Vinod, on which he’s still putting finishing touches. “Yeah, I’ve been a little too slow, Johnny Gaddaar was out five years go,” agrees the writer-director, notable for
producing a 45-minute documentary on the Indian serial killer, Raman Raghav.

Pointing out that he had expected to wrap up his third film in two years, the 49-year-old admits that the first draft of Agent Vinod itself took six months. “But that’s no excuse. Even Steven Spielberg makes one movie a year,” he says, adding, “This time, my New Year’s resolution is to speed up on the output.”

AishwaryaSaif Ali Khan’s home production on the lines of the Bond, Bourne and Tintin series, is slated for release on March 23. If people like it, they could make a sequel. “It’s easy to take the franchise forward because it’s a spy thriller and could lend itself to different adventures in new countries.

I’d like to do another Agent Vinod, but it’s not necessary that I have to do every film in the series,” says Sriram, pointing out that Mission Impossible, while retaining its star, Tom Cruise, has moved from Brain De Palma (Mission: Impossible, 1996) and John Woo (Mission: Impossible II, 2000) to JJ Abrams (Mission: Impossible III, 2006) and Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, 2011).

Before he helms another Agent Vinod, Sriram would like to make a “smaller, more intimate movie”. The filmmaker has been working on a couple of projects, but everything has been put on hold till the release of the Saif-Kareena Kapoor starrer, which has been shot in 12 countries. “We thought we’d finish it six months ago, but when that didn’t happen, I told Ramesh Sippy, with whom I am committed to doing a film next, around June-July last year, that we’d talk only after March,” he says.

The film he had planned with Sippy was titled Happy Birthday and the duo had even zeroed in on John Abraham and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to star in it. Will he go back to the original cast given that Aishwarya is a mother now and on a sabbatical?

“I’ve not spoken to anyone about Happy Birthday for the last one-and-a-half years. In fact, it’s been out of my head too for almost two years. After Agent Vinod I will go back to it and when you revisit a script after all this time, you tend to make some changes. Let’s see where we go with it,” says Sriram. “All I can say at the moment is that Happy Birthday is a very different film from Agent Vinod.It’s a sci-fi love story, with no car chases and no guns.”

Aishwarya may star opposite Pawan Kalyan in Telugu flick

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may soon do a film opposite Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan if Puri Jagannadh manages to rope her in.

Buzz is that the ace Telugu director is trying to get Aishwarya agree to her first Telugu movie as a lead actress.

According to reports, the shooting of the movie is expected to begin this summer and wind up by October 2012.

If she agrees, this will be Aishwarya's first movie post-marriage.

Jagannadh has earlier directed Amitabh Bachchan in Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap. Aishwarya's only Telegu movie appearance was 13 years ago in an item song in Nagarjuna's Raavoyi Chandamama.

At present the entire Bachchan family is busy taking care of Amitabh Bachchan who is recuperating after a surgery. There has not been any official confirmation from any party.

The couple left for their holiday destination on Sunday night. What’s interesting is that Sunday also happened to be Abhishek Bachchan’s birthday.

Having to fulfill her motherly duties, Ash has been running around Beti B, round the clock. Abhi has also been very busy with his film ‘Bol Bachchan’, post the baby’s birth. Well, this long due holiday was very much needed and it came just on time.

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s wedding reception was a well-attended affair with a sizeable chunk of Bollywood packing into the confines of the hotel where it was held.

The indoor ambience was completely decorated in red, with red roses everywhere and the tables, chairs and drinking glasses set in red. The bash went on till well past midnight after which the newly married couple left for Riteish’s family home.

Expression of love lacking in Aishwarya's eyes: Italian author

Said to be India's face in Hollywood, Aishwarya Rai may have legions of fans across the world but she has failed to impress the author of The Last Legion.

Valerio Massimo Manfredi, the Italian historian and author of about 17 historical novels, said that the Bollywood star, who portrayed Mira in the film version of the book, was far away from what the character was written as.

Not just that, Manfredi added that the acting of Aishwarya – touted as India's International face – acted badly.

"My character of the leading lady was totally different. She was from a village but Aishwarya was totally different. She was the lover of the protagonist…but she acted as if the film was for kids," Manfredi said.

However, Manfredi was all praise for Aishwarya Rai's eyes. But he regretted the lack of expression of love in them.

"She has such strong expressive and beautiful eyes. Some little expression of love would have made the film more different," Manfredi added.

The film tells the story of emperor Romulus Augustus' journey to Britain in search of loyal legionaires to take on the "barbarian" invaders. Besides Aishwarya, the film has Colin Firth and Sir Ben Kingsley in pivotal roles.

Manfredi was in India to launch the Indian editions of his Alexander trilogy, a series for which he is known the world over. The books, "Child of a Dream", "The Sands of Ammon" and "The Ends of the Earth" (Pan Macmillan) are historical interpretations of the conquerers' life painted on a canvas of facts and fiction. The trilogy has been translated in 34 languages in 55 countries.

The Taj Mahal, actress Aishwarya Rai and Alexander the Great bind famous Italian archaeologist-historian, television presenter and novelist Valerio Massimo Manfredi to India - a country whose heritage he finds iconic.

Manfredi is the author of "The Last Legion", a 2007 Hollywood production starring Colin Firth, Aishwarya and Ben Kingsley.

"My character of the leading lady (played by Aishwarya) was totally different. She was from a village but Aishwarya was totally different. She was the lover of the protagonistbut she acted as if the film was for kids," Manfredi told IANS here.

When a novel of "almost 500 pages has to be squeezed into a 90-page screenplay and then reduced to 50 on the computer screen, it becomes 1/10th of the original work", Manfredi said.

The writer was in India to launch the Indian editions of his Alexander trilogy, a series for which he is known the world over. The books, "Child of a Dream", "The Sands of Ammon" and "The Ends of the Earth" (Pan Macmillan) are historical interpretations of the conquerers' life painted on a canvas of facts and fiction. The trilogy has been translated in 34 languages in 55 countries.

Manfredi was also deeply moved by the Taj.

"I was here three years ago to shoot my programme for Italian television. It was a cultural programme about the Mughal empire. I loved the Taj Mahal. It was a masterpiece - very classic and very beautiful. The green gardens and the mausoleum are so imposing. It reminds me of the Renaissance...," Manfredi told IANS.

"It is an image that is almost an icon of India," he said.

He is the author of nearly 20 historical novels, several essays on history and archaeology and two screenplays, "The Inquiry" and "The Memoirs of the Hadrian". Another of his novels, "Tower of the First Born", has also been made into a movie.

"You must be prepared for a lot of cuts. Some are painful cuts but in the end it is a fanstastic experience. In my imagination, I had cast the characters in a different way...when you meet the people you realise they have their own flesh, expression and their body," Manfredi said.

But it is Alexander that lights up Manfredi's face. "He was the great because he was thinking great. Alexander went over the logic of the conqueror and the vanquished," Manfredi said.

Manfredi relies on his American wife to translate his books.

"I am in the seventh chapter of by new book. It is an epic set in the 1900s," the writer said. Manfredi is also working on a big project about India which "he will announce in a few months".

The writer is famous for his "route to the Trophy of the 10,000", a historical site associated with the march of an ancient Greek army of mercenaries near the Black Sea off Turkish coast. Manfredi had retraced the journey with a British archaeologist.

Babies aren't cheap, as any mother knows, but Beti B has proven particularly costly for Aishwarya Rai. How expensive exactly has Beti B been? Well before she was even born she cost Aishwarya 21 lakh rupees!

B cost her mother almost $45,000! That's how much Aishwarya was given as a signing bonus for Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine, and when her pregnancy forced Aishwarya to quit the film she played the good sport and returned the sum to UTV Motion Pictures, the company producing the film.

It's possible that she needn't have returned the amount--after all, she did technically begin work on the film. But Aishwarya Rai chose to be professional and give the money back.

Incidentally she's not the only member of the family to have returned a signing amount--husband Abhishek Bachchan impressed many of his fans when he forfeited part of his fee for his recent film Players. The film didn't do as well as he had hoped at the box office and he felt undeserving of the full fee. Looks like Abhishek is just as selfless and honorable as Aishwarya!

Till last week, we heard that Aishwarya Rai has been rejecting several offers coming her way, because of her two-months-old baby. However, the latest is that the actress has posed for the cover page of the January edition of Elegant Living magazine, which is a US based publication.

On the cover, Ash is all decked up in a white suit and a hat. She looks quite slim and trim. So we wonder when did the shoot happen!

Buzz has it that the mag, having Ash on its cover, is just a publicity stunt so as to attract people to purchase their copies with the hope of getting a glimpse of recent images of Ash and her baby.

Currently, when the entire nation is curious to know what’s cooking in the Bachchan pariwaar, whats delaying the formal naming of the baby, etc etc, having Aishwarya on the maazne cover is the best way to get its copies sold, like hot cakes.

In a recent chat with Filmfare, Abhishek Bachchan revealed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has refused to seek help or hire nanny for her daughter. She is apparently enjoying bathing, feeding and entertaining her little daughter, all on her own.

Will the queen of chat show introduce Bollywood's Bachchan family's newest member, Bet B to the world? If certain media reports in India are to be belived, it could well be true.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has already appeared on the famous Oprah Winfrey show twice. Once by herself and again with her not-so-hot hubby, Abhishek Bachchan.

Oprah Winfrey, on her recent maiden visit to India, went to meet Beti B straight from the airport to the Bachchan home in Juhu, even before stepping into the social scene in Mumbai. That speaks volumes about the importance of being 'Beti B'.

Oprah refused to give away 'Beti B's' official name to the media. She simply responded, "I'll just call her Princess. She's beautiful."

Amithabh Bachchan lated tweeted: "The gracious Oprah Winfrey visits our home, to meet us and bless the baby...warm hearted, endearing...drive her to the party in her honour. And Oprah in sari... looking lovely!!"

Buzz has it that some of the filmmakers have offered the actress films, casting hubby Abhishek Bachchan as the lead actor. Yet, Ash has rejected all of them.

The recent rumor about Ash being a part of Sanjay Leela Bansali’s film has also fizzled out. Close sources say, now that Ash is a mommy, she has decided to give her complete attention to her little baby. Hoping against hope, filmmakers in Bollywood have been sending scripts to Aishwarya Rai but have drawn a blank so far.

With the rumour of Aishwarya Rai having shown interest in a film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali fizzling out, it’s clear that the actress is enjoying her motherhood to the hilt. According to sources close to the Bachchan family, Aishwarya has dedicated herself fully to the care of her little daughter, so much so she is not even giving a thought to making a comeback to films in Bollywood.

However, that hasn’t stopped the hopeful filmmakers from sending her scripts of their films. In fact, some producers have offered Aishwarya Rai films alongside hubby Abhishek Bachchan to lure her out of her self-chosen hibernation following the birth of her daughter in November 2011.

But nothing doing for Aishwarya. Family comes before films for the actress and a shining example for her in the Bachchan household is the saasu maa Jaya Bachchan who had put her own acting career on hold to care for Shweta and Abhishek.

Oprah plans to keep Ash’s gift..

Oprah Winfrey looked absolutely gorgeous draped in a colorful sari, on Monday. And as reported earlier, the beautiful sari was gifted to her by the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

As soon as Oprah landed in India, she rushed to the Bachchan parivaar, to visit Abhi-Ash’s new born, Beti B. In the evening, Oprah along with the Ash, Abhi and Big B, went to Parmeshwar Godrej’s party, hosted for Oprah.

At the do, Oprah wore a Tarun Tahiliani sari, gifted by Ash. The international talk show queen loved the Indian attire so much that she plans to take it with her back to the USA.

Oprah Winfrey and Aishwarya Rai share a thick bond of friendship. Ash also appeared on Oprah’s chat show twice.

The talk show queen described Beti B as a ‘princess’.

However, the wait for the little one’s name still continues.

Oprah Winfrey may visit Bachchans at home

It will not be just work that will keep Oprah Winfrey busy during her maiden trip to Mumbai.

Apparently, the TV personality who is also known for her philanthropic works, will visit Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan's home and meet their newborn baby girl.

Oprah is said to be visiting India to meet spiritual guru Deepak Chopra for her upcoming new show and is also expected to speak at the Jaipur Literary Festival on January 21 and 22.

Oprah is trying to fit in a quick visit to Mumbai amidst all this. She tweeted last week, "Never been to India, it's been on my vision board forever."

Adds a source, "Aishwarya has been a guest on Oprah's show twice and her second time was with Abhishek post their wedding. She has been in touch with Oprah even during her international tours, and the Bachchans are keen to have her home."

They plan to keep it as low key as possible by hosting a very private dinner between January 23 and 24.

Adds the source, "When the couple was on their show in 2009, it was for the first time Abhi-Ash spoke on a public platform about their relationship. So they do share a very warm rapport with Oprah and they want her to be as comfortable as possible."

Chances are that Abhishek might fly down to Jaipur or Delhi to escort Oprah to Mumbai.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan's daughter has finally got a name! As per sources, Beti B's name reportedly starts with a double 'AA' and is short and sweet.

One of Abhishek Bachchan's close friends has revealed to a leading website that Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek have finally chosen a name for their little daughter, who was born on November 16, 2011.

Terming the entire procedure of choosing the name as 'methodical', the friend informed that Aishwarya and Abhishek made a list of names that the entire family had suggested. Aishwarya Rai's New Role: Game Show Host?

Even though Aishwarya Rai declared that she wouldn't be taking on any new projects in the coming year in order to spend time with her daughter, she's still being approached for projects by hopeful directors.

First there was the rumor that she'd be reuniting with Shahrukh Khan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, a historical epic that would bring together the much-loved jodi for the first time since Devdas. That rumor was flatly denied. Then it was said Aishwarya would be doing a cameo role for Rajinikanth's big-budget film, Kochadaiyaan. So far nothing has been made official on that front, but given that the role is quite small and there are no plans to release the film anytime before the end of 2012, it's possible that Aishwarya wouldn't have to begin shooting for it for at least a year.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are yet to finalise a name for their daughter. However, grandfather Amitabh Bachchan is happy to name his grand daughter Bitiya for now! Also, Amitabh feels that though the little girl looked exactly like Aish when she was born, she is now beginning to resemble Abhishek.

When asked at a recent function as to who his grand daughter resembles, Amitabh Bachchan said that though the little girl looked exactly like her mother Aishwarya Rai Bachchan when she was born, the girl is slowly beginning to resemble her dad Abhishek as well.

While Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, whose son was born on December 1st, have already named their boy Azad Roy Khan; Aishwarya, who delivered a baby girl on November 16th is yet to finalise a name for her daughter. However, it seems like as for now grandfather Amitabh Bachchan is happy to call her Bitiya.

Speaking at a recent function, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Hopefully, we’ll zero in on one that everyone unanimously agrees on soon. My father (Harivansh Rai Bachchan) named my two other grandchildren Navya Naveli and Agastya. This time, the task has fallen on us, and until we find an appropriate name for her, she’s bitiya.”

Amitabh Bachchan wants to spend as much time as possible with Aishwarya and Abhishek's daughter and has therefore taken month and a half off, so that he could spend as much time as possible with her.

Aishwarya's cameo in Rajinikanth's film?

Less than a month after the birth of her baby daughter, several "reports" are surfacing on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's return to the big screen.

The latest is her reported cameo in Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's new film, Kochadaiyaan.

"There was a lot of back and forth on what project Rajinikanth would be working on, post his illness. But now he has already started work on his daughter Soundarya's film Kochadaiyaan.

Though the leading lady for the film is yet to be finalised, it was decided from the very beginning that they would request Aishwarya to do a special appearance," says a source.

"Rajni sir shares a very warm relationship with Aishwarya and there's little chance that she would say no to him," added the source. Aishwarya and Rajinikanth were seen in the hit sci-fi flick Endhiran (Robot).

"Even during the making and promotions of Robot, it was evident that they would definitely work in a film together again. However, now that Ash has other family and professional commitments, it seems difficult for her to devote time for a full-fledged role and hence this," the source said.

Aishwarya, now on a sabbatical, was reportedly due to return to the big screen in a film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

After the blockbuster success of Endhiran and Robot, Aishwarya is likely to grab an opportunity to share screen space with the Boss once again.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been in news from quite sometime now. First it was her pregnancy, then her baby and now it is whether the actress will make a come back anytime soon.

Well, like we earlier reported, the actress will be making a special appearance in the South superstar Ranikanth’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’.

If this buzz is true, then this will be her first filmy appearance post delivery. Like we have reported earlier too, Ash is on a one year break and it is only after that will she decide to make a come back or not.

Beauty queen Aishwarya Rai has no plans on coming back in films, anytime soon. As of now, the gorgeous actress is very content changing her baby’s nappies.

Buzz had it that Ash is all ready to make a comeback very soon, with ‘Bajirao’, a Sanjay Leela Bansali film and that she is super excited to work opposite Shahrukh Khan.

However, as a source tells a tabloid, “SLB and Shah Rukh have spoken about a role. But it is certainly not Bajirao. As for Aishwarya it would be quite a while, at least a year before she even contemplates returning to movies.”

Initially, i.e. way back in 2001, when Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were dating, Sanjay thought to cast the two love birds in ‘Bajirao’. However, things didn’t materialize. Buzz had it that SRK will now jump into Sallu’s shoes for the film.

However, a source says, it is just a rumor and a trick to intensify the Khan war.

Coming back to Aishwarya Rai, the actress will not make a comeback anytime soon and is probably on a one year long leave.

Bollywood's new mommy Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has hired a senior trainer to shed the post-pregnancy fat and get back into shape. She will start working out from January as her hubby Abhishek Bachchan wants her to get back into shape.

“She has asked a senior trainer to help her shed the post-pregnancy fat. The training is scheduled to start from January,” a source informed media. According to sources, Ash is not having any recent films on her cards, “but she has always been a fitness freak and in fact, hubby Abhishek too feels it’s about time that his wife hits the treadmill.”

A fitness expert said, “Women who deliver normally can start working out from the second or third week after their delivery. Walking and stretching are two forms of workouts that are always advised by doctors.”

Ash was first choice for Dam 999: Sohan Roy

Director Sohan Roy admits that he originally wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to star in his 3D film, Dam 999. “Her father and brother are both mariners. So I was keen on getting her for my film, and her office even accepted the script. But due to delay in Raavan’s (2010) shoot, she couldn’t provide us the dates we were to go on floor.”

Made in Hinglish (combination of Hindi and English), Tamil and Telugu, the film talks about the enticements, adventures and agony that a mariner faces when at the ocean.

Aishwarya RaiA tribute to the 2,50,000 people who died in the 1975 Bangiao dam disaster in China, the film was earlier slated to have Ash represent Karuna Rasa (compassion). He adds, “To balance her stardom, actors like Madhavan, Preity Zinta etc were also considered to represent other rasas. Since the shooting of Raavan got prolonged, Aishwarya was not in a position to spare us dates as per our schedule, so we had to change the entire cast.”

Roy elaborates further, “I must admit, if she was part of the project, it would have added to the international appeal.” The cast now is a combination of Indian and international stars like Rajit Kapur, Joshua Fredric Smith, Linda Arsenio, Gary Richardson, Jaala Pickering, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vinay Rai, Vimala Raman and Megha Burman.

Made at a cost of Rs 45 crore, the film boasts of some very expensive sequences. Sohan reveals, “We built a couple of miniature dams in 60 days with 50 artists working on it. It took just three seconds and 30,000 litres to destroy the dam for the climax sequence. The destruction of the dam was shot with six different camera angles, and hydrogen cylinders were used to open the doors and gush out the water with immense pressure to destroy the miniature dam.”

Earlier, during Aishwarya's pregnancy, hubby Abhishek Bachchan expressed his desire for a daughter. Also, granny Jaya Bachchan wished to have a granddaughter. This shows that an elite class of our nation is heading towards prosperity by giving more preference to female kid rather than a male one.

But what about the rest of India? Son preference is a well-documented phenomenon in India, with a report saying an estimated 500,000 female foetuses are aborted in the country every year. The nation's thought have not yet changed. Hence, the elite Indian families like the Bachchans can increase awareness since they are overwhelmed to have a baby girl in their home.

"Most of the time when celebrities of high stature like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan or Shabana Azmi promote a social campaign, it becomes the movement of new India as people start following them. Aishwarya Rai had lot of labour pain for 2-3 hours: Amitabh

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has revealed that his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai suffered a lot of labour pain for two to three hours before she delivered her baby girl. Big B was addressing the media at his home when he spoke about her suffering. He said that his family wanted Aish to go for caesarean, but she had determined to have normal delivery.

Talking about Aishwarya Rai's delivery, Amitabh Bachchan said, “She delivered her first baby last Wednesday morning, 16th November. Before this, she had lot of labour pain for 2-3 hours. We could not see her suffering and we wanted her to go for caesarean. But she was determined to have normal delivery.”

When asked about the name of the baby, Amitabh said, “We have just welcomed Mahalakshmi (the newborn baby) and we have not decided about her name yet.” Meanwhile, Big B added, "We have received overwhelming love and support from the people and media across the country. We thank all them for the courtesy towards our family.”

Aishwarya Rai's ex beau Vivek promotes WIC outside Jalsa

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's day was Vivek Oberoi's day of fame as well. When the Bachchan's held a press meet at Jalsa to celebrate the arrival of Aishwarya and Abhishek's daughter, Vivek Oberoi's event manager stood right outside the Jalsa house to distribute Vivek's upcoming film Watch Indian Circus DVDs to the media.

As reported in Mumbai Mirror, few journalists were gathered at a Juhu hotel for the DVD launch of Vivek's home production Watch Indian Circus. However, when they got to know that the Bachchans were holding a press meet, they all left midway to rush to Jalsa. Though Vivek's publicist and event manager requested them to wait for the arrival of the DVDs, they weren't willing to wait.

At Jalsa, when the journalists were interacting with Amitabh and Abhishek, Vivek's manager sent out an SMS stating that they were waiting outside Jalsa with the DVD's of Watch Indian Circus. The journalists were requested to go and collect the DVD's from outside!

It must be recalled here that Aishwarya and Vivek were romantically linked in the past and it is quite strange that Vivek's manager had to go to Jalsa to give out his DVD's!

Finally, Beti B has arrived home at Jalsa and Amitabh Bachchan says, “Goddess Lakshmi has come to our family and we have brought Lakshmi ratna home.” The best part is that, Beti B doesn’t even cry much.

“We took her to Prateeksha first because that is our first home. We took my father’s blessings and then came to Jalsa,” said Amitabh.

Seems like grandpa B has now dedicated himself completely to his granddaughter.
“Currently, I am not working on any project. I have just finished with ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and have no film in hand right now,” Amitabh said. “I have no work right now,” he added.

To this, Beta B retorted, immediately: “Who said you have no work? You are fully responsible to take care of your granddaughter.”

Abhishek said that that his little angel is very quite and calm. “She is quiet, obedient and very cooperative. She does not cry or fuss much.”

Big B also said, “We are happy to have a baby girl. Abhishek and Jaya got what they wanted,” he added.

Abhishek explains how it is yo be a dad, “It would take some time for the feeling to sink in, because for me the definition of father is Amitabh Bachchan.”

Aishwarya Rai and her baby discharged from hospital

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who gave birth to her first baby at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai on 16th November, has been discharged from the hospital after a week after her delivery. Actor Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek drove Aish and her daughter home in a car this afternoon.

While walking out of the Seven Hills hospital, Aishwarya Rai was accompanied by her father-in-law Abhishek, Amitabh Bachchan and her parents. It was Abhishek, who drove the family car to their home Jalsa in Juhu. His sister Shweta Nanda was at home to welcome the baby into the house.

Amitabh Bachchan seemed to be the happiest man of all, who accompanied Aishwarya in the hospital. Amitabh was holding the baby wrapped in pink cloth. He looked like the proud grandfather as he carried home the baby. However, Abhishek Bachchan is expected to address the media later in the evening.

So finally we have a name for the newest entrant in the Bachchan family - 'Beti B'.

Yes after Big B, Jr B we now have a 'Beti B' and the name has been anointed by none other than the father himself.

Abhishek Bachchan can hardly contain the happiness of donning the new role of that of a father and he readily accepted this name suggested to him by a friend on twitter.

"They warn me of dire consequences by mentioning details of the delivery or about Aishwarya. Why ? Do they have a monopoly on my family ? With the birth of a baby girl to Aishwarya Rai on Wednesday, it’s clear that the actress didn’t undergo any special IVF treatment to have a baby boy.

Back in June when Amitabh Bachchan broke the news that Aishwarya Rai was pregnant, and Abhishek Bachchan expressed his wish to have a baby girl, actress Bhairavi Goswami stuck her neck out of nowhere and launched an unwarranted verbal attack on the Bachchans for being “hypocrites”.

Bhairavi alleged that Aishwarya Rai had undergone an IVF treatment in Bangkok to ensure that her baby was a boy.

Back then, Bhairavi Goswami had tweeted: “Nauseating 2 read superstars giving interviews about wanting a girl baby when she has gone 2 Bangkok to an IVF clinic which specializes in boy babies. Height of hypocrisy. They know damn well its a boy, after all she has to produce a male heir at any cost - Typical UP mentality, no wonder that state has such high female foeticide.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has a normal delivery

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gave birth to a healthy baby girl at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai, a few minutes before 10 AM.

As per sources, Aishwarya developed labour pains around 4 AM. Though she was immediately taken to the labour room, Ash delivered only after six hours of agonising pain.

Three rooms have apparently been booked in the fifth floor of the Seven Hills Hospital – One for Aishwarya, the other for the Bachchan family and the third for the Rai family.

World awaits youngest Bachchan; Aishwarya given full security

The Mumbai hospital where Aishwarya Rai is expected to deliver bears a scene right out of a post-Zombie outbreak movie -- quiet at one end and filled with various security personnel at select locations.

The SevenHills Hospital in Andheri appears like a quarantined zone sealed shut to avoid a major outbreak. Such is the intense cover given to shield the Bachchans from the vying eyes of the media.

The arrival of the junior-most Bachchan has got the hospital staff on full alert. More than 100 security personnel have been positioned in strategic places.

Media personnel are seen camping outside. Photographers, journos and anchors are all gathered, but only patients and staff are allowed inside.

When Aishwarya is brought in, she is expected to be escorted safely to the VIP suite at the hospital's third floor. The hospital is taking no chance with this delivery. Everyone is awaiting the youngest Bachchan.

Media boycotts Bachchans over Aishwarya Rai's delivery?

The media seems quite miffed with the Bachchans. Few sources from Bollywoodlife.com reported that media have decided to boycott the Bachchans and not to take any pictures of pregnant Aishwarya Rai outside the hospital.

If we have a minute sneek peek, we would find that only Rediff.com carrying images of Aishwarya Rai walking into the Seven Hills Hospital. The rest of the media has apparently decided not to cover the occasion.

It seems that the media is badly hurt this time by the Bachchans and their insulting remarks against the press. It is believed that Amitabh Bachchan's recent tweets against media for it's speculations on Aishwarya's delivery have taken a nasty turn. Amitabh Bachchan posted, “This is sheer desperation – a desire to brush up their screenplay skills, of how to design stories to fill in as it were the hours of time required to be filled in for the channel. Digital facilities have given expanse to no limit of time and usage of film material. It is there by the millions and when over, deleted and started all over again. The still cameras are no less. Invading every possible breach to get something to sell off to the print and the net … and with attitude!”

After this, the Broadcast Editors’ Association imposed innumerable restrictions on the media over Ash's delivery coverage that was an direct attack against the press by the Bachchans. Well, this isn't the first time Bachchans are making critical comments against media. Earlier in 2007, during Abhishek-Aishwarya's marriage, the media people were treated like dogs by the Bachchans. So, how can that be forgotten?

Seven Hills Hospital saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan checking in on Monday night at around 11.30 pm. The actress is expected to deliver anytime soon and so she was admitted late last night.

Aishwarya Rai makes public appearance at Abu Jani bash

Recently, the Broadcast Editors’ Association has circulated an internal memo to all television journalists listing guidelines on how the television media should behave and what to cover when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gives birth to her first child.

It is believed that it is Amitabh Bachchan's recent tweets and blog posting on November 1st that has compelled the media to take up this decision. Amitabh Bachchan posted, “This is sheer desperation – a desire to brush up their screenplay skills, of how to design stories to fill in as it were the hours of time required to be filled in for the channel. Digital facilities have given expanse to no limit of time and usage of film material. It is there by the millions and when over, deleted and started all over again. The still cameras are no less. Invading every possible breach to get something to sell off to the print and the net … and with attitude!”

But, Amitabh have clearly denied the rumours about he approaching the I & B ministry to put a ban on the media from covering Aishwarya's delivery on the assumed due date. Bachchan squashed all rumours as he posted on Twitter: "HaHa ! Print Mid-Day asking if I have told I & B ministry to block media news of Aishwarya's delivery! Absolute rubbish! Good try MDay ! Firstly I have no such intention ever; secondly do you really think I & B would listen to me!?? No way baby!"

Bachchan further tweeted, "Apparently, media has been told by I & B to not have OB Vans outside hospitals! That news came to me via a journalist.. so someone putting two and two together and making it Bachchan... Ha ha ha !!" Bachchan also revealed on Twitter that the broadcast media has confirmed that they will not place OB vans in front of the hospital where Ash will be admitted. An internal memo dated November 5, 2011, lists ten points that will govern the media coverage of Aishwarya Rai giving birth to her first born. As the country gets ready to welcome Aishwarya-Abhishek's first child, the media has also readied itself for the big day. Speculations have already begun on when the child will be born.

In an attempt to tone down the celebrity coverage, all news channels have agreed upon a set of guidelines while covering the birth of Ash-Abhi's child and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandchild:
No pre-coverage of the event.

Story of the birth of the baby to run only after, and on the basis of, official announcement.
Story not to run on breaking news band.
No camera or OB vans at hospital or any other location (like the Bachchans’ homes Pratiksha or Jalsa) related to the story.
Channels will only go for photo-op or press conference if invited.
Channels will not carry any MMS or photo of the child. We can carry if issued by the family
No astrology show to be done on this issue.
No 11.11.11 astro shows to be done.

Bachchans slam media for 'spreading rumours' about Aish's delivery date

The Bachchan family and their doctors have slammed certain sections of the media for 'circulating rumours' about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's planned delivery. A Mumbai tabloid, citing sources, claimed that a luxury hospital suite has been booked for Aishwarya from November 10 to 15 at the Seven Hills Hospital in the Marol-Andheri area of Mumbai – insinuating that Ash's due date definitely falls between these dates. The paper also claimed that there is a possibility of the actress undergoing a C-section procedure on November 11, 2011 (11-11-11) – a number assumed to be lucky.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's publicist and the Seven Hills Hospital have released a joint statement condemning the tabloid for publishing "false and fabricated news". Rejecting the article's claims of an 11-11-11 delivery, Aishwarya's spokesperson accused the media of permanently damaging the family's reputation. "(The report) ridiculously insinuates that such an esteemed and respected family would turn nature's course for blind sensationalised beliefs. If by the will of God and nature's turn, she does end up delivering on the date mentioned, this fictitious article will remain with her for the rest of her life. As an international icon, is this the tag she will carry for the rest of her life? This is not what she needs at this happy moment."

Refuting the tabloid's claims that the hospital takes special precautions to ensure Aishwarya's privacy during the visits and doctors arrive at 7:30 in the morning for her check-ups, Dr Pai, head of radiology and VP, Seven Hills Hospital, said, "The report has taken me by surprise…the information and details are a figment of someone's imagination. The 7:30 am appointments and a C-Section for November 11 have no resemblance to the truth. Such stories only show the medical fraternity in bad light. Sonography is a personal procedure and is not performed in open wards; hence it would not be different for any patient; as each is entitled to their privacy."

To ensure that their bahu gets the best medical facilities, the Bachchans have booked a deluxe VIP room at the state of the art Seven Hills Hospital in Marol, Andheri from the 10th to 15th of November.

With her due date less than a month away, Aishwarya Rai welcomed the cream of Bollywood to the Bachchan home, Jalsa, last week, for her baby shower, which saw the likes of Neetu Kapoor, Karan Johar, Manyata Dutt and Saira Banu arrive to offer the glowing mum-to-be their best wishes.

With father-in-law, Amitabh stuck filming The Great Gatsby in Australia, his was the only A-list name not on the guestlist, with choreographer, Saroj Khan, spilling, "I have never seen so many celebrity women together!"

As crowds of well-wishers gathered outside the family's Juhu home, Abhishek, who has said of becoming a dad for the first time, "It literally still hasn't sunk in that there's going to be a child... Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gets Madame Tussauds revamp

The wax figure of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been redesigned in preparation for a world tour of Madame Tussauds attractions.

The Devdas star will now be seen in an outfit which has been inspired by her Cannes appearance earlier this year.

"I think fans will be blown away by the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan," said Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

Rai Bachchan was seen in a white, embroidered, one-shouldered outfit from Lebanese designer Elie Saab.

The actor's original waxwork had earlier been dressed in a traditional red saree.

Rai Bachchan made her Cannes red carpet appearance as brand ambassador for L'Oreal Paris. Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto were also in attendance at the festival to promote the cosmetics firm.

The Madame Tussauds Bollywood collection includes Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan.

Kareena Kapoor is expected to unveil her new statue at the attraction on October 27.

The global Bollywood tour will travel to London, Hong Kong, Bangkok and sites in Europe and the US.
